Role Overview
The Senior Electrical Engineer defines the electrical distribution strategy for data centre and mission-critical facilities, holds technical sign-off authority, and mentors junior and intermediate engineers.
The role leads protection and coordination strategy and manages liaison with authorities, vendors, and clients from concept through commissioning, at CTS's São Paulo engineering hub.
Key Responsibilities

Define the electrical distribution design strategy across switchgear, transformers, UPS, generators, PDUs, busbar systems, and switchboards.

Provide technical authority and design sign-off for electrical packages.

Lead protection and coordination studies and arc flash assessments, and approve final settings and equipment ratings.

Conduct design risk assessments and lead value-engineering/optimisation reviews for electrical scope.

Lead multidisciplinary MEP coordination and enforce modelling and documentation standards.

Oversee design and installation quality; lead commissioning and integrated testing of electrical systems.

Lead vendor and OEM negotiations and technical evaluation for switchgear, UPS, and generator packages.

Mentor junior and intermediate engineers and review their design deliverables.

Liaise with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ), utility providers, and clients on electrical compliance and certification matters.
Required Skills and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; Master's preferred.

10+ years in electrical engineering, including experience leading mission-critical/data-centre design.

Expert command of IEC 60364, IEC 61439, and Brazilian electrical standards (NBR 5410, NBR 5419).

Advanced proficiency across AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, Navisworks, and ETAP or SKM PowerTools for protection/coordination and arc flash studies.

Deep knowledge of UPS technologies (Li-ion vs. VRLA), generator/genset specifications, and MV/LV interface considerations.

Advanced or fluent English for collaboration with international teams.

Proven leadership, mentoring, and client/authority engagement skills.
